As with any new site, especially one that boasts something totally brand new for you and even us, the Help Center will for now be considered a long work in progress. Big Game Box Office was built with two converging ideas in mind, community and simplicity.

 

Community: Big Game Box Office is a meeting place, where the big-game hunting industry, from the manufacturer to the everyday hunter, can share with the world his or her in-the-field experiences, product announcements, personalized tips and tactics, and really anything else within reason.

 

Simplicity: Big Game Box Office was built with “ease of use” in mind. Yes, I know it looks a bit daunting, but I assure you, it’s not nearly as difficult as it appears. If you’re a participant in any of Grand View Media Group’s trophy rooms, then there should really be no problem at all in posting your own videos. It’s basically set up the same way with only a few minor twists or additions.

 

Here is a detailed explanation of how to upload your own videos and some reasoning as to why it should be done a certain way:

  • I should say first that in order to post videos and be included in the rating and even commenting of videos, you have to register for a Big Game Box Office account. We don’t ask for very much information, just the normal contact items. But, by registering, you agree to adhere to the site’s CODE OF CONDUCT and TERMS OF USE policies. As with any open platform, there are rules. They’re here for your protection and ours. Please take the time to read each policy. Read them thoroughly, even study them. We take this seriously, and so should you.
  • Each new and unique account is granted 50 megabytes of FREE video storage space. While for some of you, that’s a ton of space – almost 30 minutes worth of broadcast ability – it’s small potatoes for the rest. This aspect hasn’t escaped us, and we will work with you to meet your video needs.
  • You may post as many videos as you’d like up to the stated 50-megabyte capacity. This can be one really long video, or multiple smaller video clips. The choice is yours to decide. I would recommend that you opt for the multiple smaller video clips route. Trying to load such a large file size in a single video will be hazardous to your internet connection and everyone else’s when trying to view it.
  • The Video Upload page requires, other than your video, a few descriptive items to illustrate your video to the community.
    • Filepath: This directs you to your computer’s desktop or hard drive. Simply select the video you want to upload through the “Browse” button. Big Game Box Office accepts MOST video file formats, and uploading these videos and converting them to our specified format (the site does this on its own) usually takes a few minutes, even on a high-speed internet connection.
    • Title: This one is easy. Title your video, but make it an accurate representation of your video.
    • Summary: Include a short write-up about you video. Only a sentence or two that describes the video’s subject matter.
    • Description: This one is similar to the above “Summary” definition, but here, you are able to expand beyond just a sentence or two, detailing even further what is happening in the video.
    • Category: Select one of the predetermined categories. There is an assortment of which to choose, but only one can best detail your video.
    • Tags: Tags are an easy way for you to supply search words, so other visitors can find your video through the site’s search bar. Please select a number of varying key words. After you type in one tag, hit “Add Tag” and the option to add another is provided to you. Keep going until you’re finished. Example: If I uploaded a deer hunting video from my area of residence, I would select the following words based on geographic region, animal hunted and equipment used:
      • Deer
      • Alabama
      • Treestand
      • Remington
      • Hornady
      • Nikon
      • Realtree
    • After you have done all of the following, simply hit the “Upload” button, and the process is complete.
  • For the most part, and I hate to say it, you need to explore the site. Test things out. There are a ton of options. We’re always here and happy to help.
